Saskatchewan Incentives

Saskatchewan Film Employment Tax Credit
This tax credit, administered by the Saskatchewan Film and Video Development Corporation, is equal to 45% of total eligible salaries, not exceeding 50% of total eligible production costs. There is also a bonus of 5% of total production costs for projects with a location base more than 40 kilometres (approx. 25 miles) from Regina or Saskatoon, and a bonus of 5% for projects with a budget exceeding $3 million in respect of which six key crew positions are filled by Saskatchewan residents.

Eligibility
  • The production company must be federally or provincially incorporated in Canada.
  • The production company must have a permanent establishment in Saskatchewan. 
  • The production company must not be controlled by a corporation or an individual based outside of Saskatchewan.
  • The production company must be primarily engaged in the business of television, film, video or multimedia.
  • The production company must pay at least 25% of its salaries to Saskatchewan residents.
  • The production company must not be a shareholder in a Canadian broadcaster or specialty channel.
  • There are no Saskatchewan or Canadian content requirements.
  • Copyright ownership is not required.
