Page 1 of 2 It’s smart to target your buyers and approach them as appropriate throughout the year. However, there are additional opportunities to pitch that can advance your project or enhance awareness of you and your company.
Public pitchesSome of the major film festivals in Canada have pitching events. In these forums, the pitches take place in front of an industry audience, so many people hear about you and your project. Some examples are:
- Toronto International Film Festival, Telefilm Canada “Pitch This” lunch.
- The Atlantic Film Festival, Astral Media The Harold Greenberg Fund Script Pitch, which is part of their Script Development program.
Pitching opportunities at film festivals change from year to year (although the two noted above have been going for a while), so it’s best to check the Industry or Trade Forum section of a festival’s website to see if they have a pitching event that year. Here’s a list of Canadian film festivals that have a strong industry or trade forum component.
