What’s the difference between a one-page and a sales sheet?

A one-page is used for projects that haven’t been produced yet.  A sales sheet is used to sell distribution rights for projects that have already been produced. There are slight differences in their presentations.

A sales sheet is typically printed in colour, on both sides of thick 8 1/2 x 11 paper stock. The front often looks similar to a movie poster, with title treatment, tagline and images that are iconic to the film.  If you have star cast, they should be featured. The reverse side contains the synopsis and business information.

A one-page doesn’t necessarily use thick stock or both sides of the paper. Other than that, one-pages and sales sheets contain much the same kind of information, with a few exceptions.  Since it is selling a film already produced, a sales sheet will highlight participation in festivals. However, it usually avoids mentioning the film’s budget.
