Page 2 of 2 Tips for good interviews Prepare your answers in advance. Inevitably, you will be asked similar questions regardless of the outlet or interviewer. By preparing succinct and articulate answers to the questions below, your interview will be focused and productive.
Stay focused and keep your answers to the point. Engage with the interviewer and communicate what you want known about your film up front. You’ll never have as much time as you’d like, so make every word count. “It’s indescribable” is never a good answer. Whatever ‘it’ is (the plot, the experience of making the film, etc.), it surely can be described. If you can’t put it into words, get someone who knows the project to help you work out an answer. Otherwise, you leave it up to the journalist to express ‘it’ to the public. Don’t be late. Tardiness makes you look unprofessional and indifferent – the opposite of what you should want to convey to the journalist. Look presentable. Do your best to convey professionalism and respect for the person who has taken time out of their schedule to cover your film. ![]() |
